Feels like I haven't finished anything for a long time. Been working mostly. I did finish a top from awhile ago, and have been putting blocks on the design wall and putting tops together. They are mostly quick things.

I started this top in a class at the Quilters Gathering in Nashua last November. It was a two day "Strips and Curves" workshop with Louisa Smith and it was fabulous! I have had the partial top and all the strip sets and fabric sitting on a chair in my studio since, telling myself that someday I will have the time.
I decided to make the time this weekend, and I just love this, the process and the way it's coming along. I have lots of work (play) left, making spiked arcs, different sized arcs, playing with placement and color. It is far from done. These are 9" blocks, so as is will be 54" square. Borders might be another opportunity for additional design, but I haven't decided yet. Another day.

Projects for March are rolling along, sure to be in the 2012 UFO pile! These blocks I simply refer to as my "wonky blocks", but Wanda calls them "Cobblestones".  In any case, I am inspired by her quilts and will get out my scraps and make some more and try to put together a small wall quilt.

At a February retreat with the local guild, I managed to make all the blocks for a queen quilt using two balipops and a background fabric. I have to trim up and sash the blocks before I can assemble them.

I had this cut out and ready to go, so I put it together this past weekend, rather than put it away. It is almost a twin size and is hanging in the quilting queue. I might fuse something in the long white blocks.

These fabrics were a pack of 10" squares, again, made these blocks rather than put them away again.

I started this little Sue Spargo pincushion at the retreat. It is almost done, I am going to stuff it with fiber rather than sawdust for a little cushion. I am not very good at this handwork stuff, but I will keep trying.

So whatever happened to the project I was going to finish in February? Well, when I say "finished", I actually mean "ready to quilt." I did finish a few tops, will post photos soon.

February is looking good to finish something. Liking how this is turning out so far. It should be about 40" square after quilting.

January has been a slow month, workwise. But I have enjoyed trying some new techniques and just playing in general.
This is another layered collage that is stitched and then sections are cut away. I haven't quilted yet. In fact, haven't figured out how to finish yet.

I was just itching to play with these pretty wools, so I started this from one of Need'l Love books.

I really needed to organize my fusibles, stabilizers, freezer paper, etc. I got some clear plastic at Joann's, Cut it in half, sewed some bias tape on the edges and put the two pieces together and stitched about every 4 1/2". Then I found one of those old trouser hangers and slipped it over the rod and hung it up. This project is finished!

This top is ready for quilting and is hanging in the "what was I thinking" section. Community quilt donation, probably.

I received a gift card for Quilted Threads, so I bought enough of these new "Stitch in Color" by Malka Dubrawsky to make a queen size quilt. It should go pretty fast, it is definitely all about the fabric.

I finally dug into my Shiva paintsticks and started stenciling some fabric for a small wall quilt. Thankfully, the paintsticks still work, I guess they will last a very long time.

Let's see what I finish in February!

I love this time of year, I can take some time to play in the studio. Here is another from the Batik Beauties book by Laurie Shifrin. I call it Ice Storm, it reminds me of the morning after with the sun glistening through the branches coated with ice diamonds.
